If you are familiar with Southern Utah, you may have heard of the Mountain Meadows Massacre site. I am a little ashamed to admit that while I have heard of it, I've never actually been to the site. One of our subscribers recently visited and sent in a few pictures.

Herriman

The city of Herriman has exploded in size since I moved to Northern Utah ten years ago. Every time I go there I am amazed at the growth. That being said, there is a reason! It is such a gorgeous place and as the town climbs the side of the mountain it has breathtaking views of the entire Salt Lake Valley...which is probably why most of the homes up there are more than a little pricey.

My husband and I took our kids to the Hogle Zoo yesterday and decided that while we were there, we'd just follow the main road up the canyon because neither of us had ever seen it.

Recently on a quick trip up to Cedar Mountain, my husband asked me if I had ever been to Strawberry Point. He was a little surprised when I answered no, because we have been right by it so many times. We ventured off and I was so glad that we did, it is an amazing view! Definitely worth the drive, I promise.

Utah State Capitol Building

In all of the years that I have lived in Utah, I have never been to the State Capitol Building. I can now check that one off of the list. Unfortunately, we weren't able to go on a tour because of Holiday hours. I was kind of sad about that because it looks beautiful from the pictures I've seen. Another day I guess.

Oquirrh Mountain Utah LDS Temple In The Evening

With how hazy the air has been lately. It's been tough to think of places to go to take clear pictures to share with you all. I decided that taking some evening shots of an LDS temple that is lit up for the night would be a good way to work around the poor air quality...you know, since you can't take a picture of a mountain scene when you can't even see the mountain.

We'd love to see some gorgeous shots of ANY place of worship in Utah, so if you have some or know someone that likes to take pictures like that, please send them the link for our photo submission page, found here.

Ha ha, I didn't even realize that Angie had shared a historical site as our last post until I was almost done with the post for this one. At least they're at different ends of the state right?  Not that it really matters since very rarely do people read every single post in order. Anyway, I was driving by this little museum and just had to stop because I think that this building is so pretty.

Cedar City Page Ranch

Page Ranch or Little Pinto as some call it, was on offshoot of Iron Town in Iron County. It was a very small settlement with only about a dozen people or so. It was once a very important stopping point along a major freighting and travel route in Southern Utah. It is now a Ghost Town but was marked by the Historical Society in 1985.

Santa Clara River Reserve

One of my favorite things about Utah is the large number of OHV trails that are available. It has always been a favorite pastime of mine to pack a picnic and take a ride out into the country with my family. It's just something we've done since I was a kid. Santa Clara has some gorgeous views if you explore a little out on the back roads and trails. We decided to do just that and snapped a few pictures while we were at it.
